Hi. I'm Colleen👋
A Pediatric Physician Assistant, Registered Dietitian, and the founder of Sweet Pea Safety. For the past 9 years, I’ve worked as a pediatric PA in South Florida, caring for infants and young children in Palm Beach County. I’ve supported families through those earliest, most vulnerable moments and I’ve seen firsthand how overwhelming the first year can feel once you leave the hospital and are suddenly on your own.
I’m certified in infant/child and adult CPR and first aid through the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross, and I’m also a Child Passenger Safety Technician, which means I’m trained to properly assess, install, and adjust car seats as your baby grows. My approach is calm, supportive, and practical. I focus on helping families feel equipped, confident, and prepared with clear guidance, hands-on practice, and space to ask the questions you didn’t even know you had.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this safety class for?
Parents, caregivers, grandparents, and anyone who will be caring for your baby. Sessions are designed for up to 8 participants. Many families choose to schedule their session while they’re expecting, and others wait until their baby arrives. Both options work well.If you join us while you’re pregnant, many parents find it easier to focus and absorb the information without a baby to care for during the session. The skills we cover are relevant from day one, so learning them before your baby arrives can feel especially reassuring. That said, some of the physical skills (like CPR positioning or getting down to the floor) can feel more challenging later in pregnancy. For comfort, we generally recommend scheduling before 34 weeks if possible, though we can work with parents who are further along.

What ages does this cover?
The CPR and first-aid training focuses on infants and young children, but the safety principles apply as your baby grows. Car seat guidance includes how to adjust and transition as your child ages.

Will you check all of our car seats?
Yes. As part of the session, I review each caregiver’s car seat, demonstrate proper installation, show how to adjust it as your baby grows, and offer clear, supportive recommendations if anything needs to be changed.

What if I already took a CPR class elsewhere?
Many families still find value in a private, in-home session. This experience is hands-on, personalized, and tailored to your home, your car seats, and your specific questions. This class does not provide CPR certification.

Can I give this as a gift?
Many families also choose to add a Sweet Pea Safety session to their baby registry or have it gifted by grandparents or loved ones. If someone would like to gift a session, just send an email to [email protected] and we’re happy to help coordinate.

What is your refund or cancellation policy?
Because this is a private, in-home service that reserves a dedicated block of time, payment is required at the time of booking.Sessions may be rescheduled with at least 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations within 48 hours are non-refundable. If illness, severe weather, or an unexpected emergency comes up, we’ll always work with you to reschedule.
This is one of those decisions you’ll feel good about.
The first year comes with so many unknowns. If you’re here, it’s because you want to feel prepared, and that tells me how deeply you care about your baby. Investing a few hours now can give you lasting confidence for your baby’s first year and beyond. This session gives you clear guidance, hands-on practice, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing what to do.Go ahead and book your in-home session. I’ll take care of the rest.
